Weymouth’s longest running home improvement company, SBL, chose to work with EDGE for the design and build of its new website as well as a series of adverts that were to be used in local press and magazines. EDGE was chosen because the full-service agency had all of the skill sets to be able to deliver on the project keeping it all under the one roof.
The client felt that the old website had become dated and less user-friendly on mobile devices. In addition, the client wanted to streamline its workload with regards to social media posting as the process was being duplicated by the SBL Team. EDGE designed and build the new website that had a clean and modern feel to it and worked across all browsers and devices. The fully responsive website now re-configures itself based on what how the user is viewing the website even down if the phone or tablet is in landscape or portrait mode.
maintaining the website going forward
The client specifically needed a content management system (or CMS) that would facilitate creating, editing, organising, and publishing new website content moving forward so that the website stayed up-to-date. EDGE chose to build the new website on the WordPress Content Management System.
Using this as a platform allows the client to have full control over the files, documents, as well as the design and display of the content. You don’t have to know a single line of code to publish content using the CMS.
Social Media Integration
The idea is very simple but surprisingly few companies do it. Historically, if the client had a news story they wanted to share they would need to post to the website, then again to Facebook, and again to Twitter and so on and so on. Wouldn’t it be great if you could just post it once?
The new website does exactly that. The client can add a new customer testimonial, a project or a news story to the website which then automatically posts to all of the linked social media outlets. Not only does this save a great deal of time for the client, it is also beneficial from a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) standpoint as it generates inbound links to the new website rather than outbound links.
Graphic Design - The Adverts
As part of this project, the client also needed some full-page adverts designing that highlighted the various offers that were currently in place. The brief for these was quite loose in terms of the look and feel of the adverts as the old adverts had become tired and overused.
With a clean and bold new look, the adverts have certainly had a positive impact since being placed in the local press.
